The History Behind Hereford weather Station

As some of you no Our old weather station Packed up in June 2007, we had this going for 3 years so it not too bad, we have now brought a new one by Nexus FAU witch is made in Germany.

This all started off as a small hobbies when I got into Weather report, the only problem I found was that Hereford there wasn't any weather stations that was 99% right,
it got to a point when we had a heavy rain full but there was no warning about this flooding, So I thought to me self that I should learn and understand about the Weather and weather forecast. So I started off with some simple book about understand the weather, I also had from Christmas present a Basic Weather station, this one just told me what's going on , nothing too much involved, but it was a start.

About 3 months later I really got this off the ground, and started to understand "well some of it" at this time I came across advert from this weather station, this did allot more then the basic one did.
So month later I brought this "Nexus FAU" weather Station, From here I don't have to do too much as the Soft wear and Program do most of the Work, I just have to Look out for Lattes Report and Anything else that happens in Hereford UK.

Doing my first web page was a challenge as there wasn't in Hereford, so getting my off the ground was hard. So months pasted the web site and weather station started doing well at this time I decided to by a domain name "Hereford-weather.co.uk" and herefordweather.co.uk" I brought.

Time pass on and the Weather Project got off the Ground Really well, better then I expected, about year Later The Local Paper got hold of this and Done a Small Article about my Weather Station "Click here To Read more" then the Local Radio station also wanted me to do an Interview "Click here" .

So fare I've have hundreds of Comments / E-mails, all from Hereford People Saying that they found the site Very useful. From Local Farmers, To local Fisher mans, To lLocal Shop keeps.

I am Basic in West of Hereford. The instrument is all placed in the Back yard. All report every 5 to 15 minuets. These are then collected from my Weather Pc and then it's all sent up to Net.

We had a web cam install dew to lot of people asking that they would love to see what the weather doing now. The weather station now going strong from people from Worcester to Malvern.

You can see that the Wind sensors are above the house to to give us 99% reading, Rain gage is onto of our shed roof. The main temp sensor we have now keep this in cool place away from the Sun heat. We had this quit high and in the open but every time we had some hot weather the sun kept play silly things with the sensor, but since we moved it , we been getting good reading.

We have also found this old Fashion Weather Tempter Drum, We found this on ebay going very cheap, after cleaning this up we have now got it running, this run on wind up key, and it measures Air Tempters and Atmosphere pressure.

It done by placing this Ink pin onto the Drum witch has Paper Graph, then the drum Rotate in time mode and the pen - ink makes the paper.
